Romantic love: has it ever been proven to exist?
It has more believers than any religion and even more blindly devoted followers than any god.
But where does this belief begin?
In puberty as good as every male and female animal comes under the influence of sexual hormones. These hormones have only one purpose: procreation. A purpose most suited and sufficient for almost any animal. Except, there's one animal that wants everything to have meaning, needs it to have more meaning and purpose than instinct.
But instincts are powerful forces, forces of life and death: forces that are wielded and manipulated by people who live by the instinct of power, people who dictate the laws of politics and commerce.
Commerce can afford to sell illusions to the millions because the sales make money and their power is in their money. The money to sell the same dream again. The power to convince you over and over again that their product will give your life meaning and purpose.
You see the movie, you watch the heroes and heroines kiss and collude; you buy the illusion and kiss your own hero or heroine. But you soon find out it is not like the movie at all: nothing happens, no meaning, no purpose. Frustration. Disappointment. Your hero was not Mr. Right, not like the one in the movies. So you watch the movie again, but this time watch closely: make sure you recognize Mr. Right next time!
You're hooked on a lie.
You're wasting energy.
You're squandering time.
Do not seek purpose or meaning in a biochemical reaction.
It's a fucking instinct.
And the commercial mindcontrollers are messing with your mind over and over again for a few dollars more...
